A big decision has been taken by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). CBSE says that students who have studied Basic Mathematics (Code 241) in class 10 can take Standard Mathematics (Code 041) in class 11.

Preparations are underway to implement this rule from the 2025-26 session. In fact, CBSE gave this exemption during the Corona epidemic. Later it was continued. What was the rule earlier? In 2020, CBSE started two levels of mathematics for class 10 students.
This change is a great opportunity for students who were afraid of mathematics earlier, but later they feel that they can study mathematics. Actually, there are two standards of Mathematics in CBSE, the first was Mathematics (Standard). This was for those students who want to study Mathematics further. The second – Mathematics (Basic). This was for those students who do not want to study Mathematics further.
Earlier, the rule was that students who took Basic Mathematics in Class 10 could study only Applied Mathematics in Class 11. Now CBSE has decided to change these rules. CBSE says that now students with Basic Mathematics can study Standard Mathematics in Class 11 as well. But, the school principal will have to see if the student has the ability to study Standard Mathematics or not.

CBSE has also said that once the names of the students are decided for the board exams, there will be no change in the subject. Therefore, students and their parents are advised to choose the subject wisely. So if you are studying Basic Mathematics in Class 10, do not get disappointed. You still have the option to study standard math. Just keep working hard.
